Dorothy “Dot” Harrill, age 91, of Oak Grove Church Road, Ellenboro, NC, died Sunday, September 15, 2019 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Dot was born May 11, 1928 in Rutherford County to the late Samuel Hardin and Carrie Kiser Hardin. She was a graduate of Cool Springs High School and was an office manager for various local textile and plastic manufacturing companies. Before her retirement, she worked in the office at Henderson Care. As a longtime member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church, she served on various committees and boards. Dot loved cooking, was an avid Christmas season decorator and enjoyed the excitement of little children. She also enjoyed cooking and having family gatherings at her house.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-eight years, Jake Vassey Harrill; three brothers, Woodrow, Kenneth and Paul Hardin; four sisters, Lorena Baynard, Betty Lee, Beadie Ingle and Lottie Hardin.
She will be always loved and remembered by all who knew her which includes eight nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 18, 2019 at the Oak Grove United Methodist Church with Reverend Greg Dickens and Reverend David Hawkins officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church fellowship hall.
