Dorothy "Dot" Parker

Dorothy “Dot” Owenby Parker, age 72, of Forest City, passed away Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at Spartanburg Regional Hospital.

Dot was born May 20, 1947 in Buncombe County to the late Jack Owenby and Elsie Warren Owenby. She was a homemaker and loved her family dearly. Dot was of the Methodist faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Christine King; brother, Jack “Junior” Owenby and sister-in-law, Ruth Owenby.

Those left to cherish her memory include two daughters, Rhonda McConnell (Frank) of Chesnee, SC and Darlene Parker of Indiana; son, Jesse King of Chesnee; two brothers, Jake Owenby and Jerry Owenby (Sheila) all of Candler, NC. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Tiffany Parker, Brittany Middleton (Josh), Carol Ann Nelson, Darius Nelson, Beckie Proffitt, David Norton, Harley King; seven great-grandchildren, Keith, Tanner, Mason, Jaxson, Kenslee, Amontae, Taylor; special friends, Bill and Cheri Kempster of Forest City and many close nieces and nephews who were near and dear to her heart.

The funeral service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, January 20, 2020 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Eric Whiteside officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home. At other times they will be gathered at 209 Westwood Drive, Forest City. The body will lie in state from 8:30 am Monday until service time.
