Doug Shew, age 70, of Caroleen, NC, died August 7, 2014 at Willow Ridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Born November 1, 1943 in Rutherford County, he was the son of the late Lester McKinley Shew and Frances Elizabeth Green Shew. Doug was a graduate of Chase High School, class of 1961 and worked for Cone Mill Cliffside Plant as a grounds keeper. He was a faithful member of Long Branch Road Baptist Church and enjoyed woodworking and especially reading his Bible.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister, Brenda Shew.
Survivors include his brother, Willis Shew and wife, Martha of Ellenboro; sister, Becky Quinn of Forest City; one niece, Renee Morris; two nephews, Michael Shew and Mark Quinn and wife, Jessica. He is also survived by two great-nieces and two great-nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 10, 2014 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Jerry Ruppe officiating. Interment will follow in Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
