Doyle S. Brown, age 77, of Rutherfordton, NC, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills.
Doyle was born November 7, 1941 in Rutherford County to the late Joe Elder Brown and Mary Lily Arrowood Brown. He worked for Gilkey Lumber for several years and Broyhill Industries for almost forty years before retirement. Doyle was a longtime and faithful member of Spindale Fellowship Holiness Church where he served as "head deacon" for over twenty years. He was known as everyone's "PawPaw" at the church. Doyle was a lover of the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, hunting and raising various farm animals. He was dedicated to his family, his church and his God.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, G.B. Brown and sister, Violet Johnson; two grandchildren, Holly and Angelica and a great-grandchild.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of fifty-six years, Janice Pruett Brown; two daughters, Diane Callahan of Ellenboro and Debbie Gettys (Gerald) of Rutherfordton; son, Steve Brown (Stacey) also of Rutherfordton; an "adopted daughter" Vickie Lynn Moore of Polk County; three brothers, Joseph Brown (Helen), Arnold Brown (Audrey) and Reverend Leon Brown (Joyce) all of Rutherfordton; three sisters, Lena Mae Hudgins, Edith Alley and Hattie Edwards (Charles) all of Rutherfordton; sister-in-law, Dorothy Brown of Rutherfordton. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Brandy Sisk (Daniel), Jessica Fulbright (Brent), Emily Bailey, Robbie Rothrock, Gretchen O'Donnell (Shane), Brittany Spivey (Jordan), Michael Brown, Meghan Brown; six great-grandchildren, Asher, Landon, Micah, Reagan, Bentley and Sawyer.
The funeral service will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 10, 2019 at Spindale Fellowship Holiness Church with Pastor Leon Brown, Reverend Chad Sisk and Reverend Buddy Campbell officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 3:30 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
