Earl Henry Ballard, age 92, of Forest City, died Monday, April 18, 2016 at the Hospice House of Rutherford County.
Born April 23, 1923 in Rutherford County, he was a son to the late Henry Ballard and Nettie Martin Ballard. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps and was a veteran of World War II. Earl worked for Burlington Industries-Caroleen Plant for thirty-two years and was a member of Glenwood Baptist Church. He enjoyed riding Harley Davidson motorcycles and working in his yard. He loved his Lord, his Country and his Family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-three years, Betty Sue Ballard and two brothers, Glenn and Eugene Ballard.
Survivors include two daughters, Diane Rhodes and husband, Arthur of Forest City and Shirley Silver and husband, Danny of Mooresboro; one brother, David Ballard and wife, Peggy also of Forest City; three sisters, Louise Burleson and Gwendolyn Ledford both of Forest City and Francis Ballard of New Orleans, Louisiana. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Rebecca Millette and husband, Brian and Lawrence Rhodes; one great-grandchild, Jamie Davis.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Kevin Rhom and Reverend Bob Philbeck officiating. Interment will follow in the Caroleen-Henrietta-Avondale Cemetery with military honors being accorded by the Rutherford County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
