Earl J. Wyss, age 76, of Mill Spring, NC, died Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at his residence.
Earl was born March 8, 1942 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri to the late Urs Joe Wyss and Virginia Eileen White Wyss. Earl was a graduate of Piggott High School, class of 1961. While serving his country in the U.S. Air Force, he was a veteran of the Vietnam War and retired as a Master Sergeant after twenty-six years of honorable duty. Earl enjoyed row crop farming and loved his family dearly. He was a faithful member of the Rutherford Church of Christ.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of fifty years, Louise Edmiston Wyss; a son, Earl Joe Wyss, Jr. and wife, Rita of Rutherfordton; two daughters, Opal Lee Loven and husband, Christopher of Burdett, Arkansas and Virginia Ellen Shipley and husband, Melvin of Greenway, Arkansas; sister, Linda Wyss of Nimmons, Arkansas and two brothers, Larry Wyss and wife, Julia of Rector, Arkansas and Ricky Wyss also of Nimmons. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Christopher Loven, Jr., Huston Wyss-Highfill, Joseph Loven, Anna Loven, E.J. Wyss, Samual Wyss Shipley, Anya Wyss and great-granddaughter, Jaylee Loven.
The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 24, 2018 at the Rutherford Church of Christ with Elder Sam Adams and Elder Harold Williams officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service time at the church. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Cleveland Memorial Park with military honors being rendered by the Rutherford County Honor Guard.
