Edith Carolyn Earley

Edith Carolyn Earley, age 78, passed away Friday, April 21, 2023 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills.

Carolyn was born Sunday, December 10, 1944 in Rutherford County to the late Britt Vickers and Margaret James Vickers. Carolyn was a graduate of Chase High School, class of 1963 and also a 1964 graduate of Shelby School of Practical Nursing and received her RN degree from Gardner-Webb University in 1970. She worked for Cleveland Regional Medical Center for forty-four years. Carolyn filled various management positions at CRMC for twenty-five years and spent her last working years taking care of new mothers and babies, which she found very rewarding. She had a great staff and developed lasting and treasured friendships with many of her co-workers. She was a longtime member of Caroleen United Methodist Church in which she served as president of the Methodist Women several times. She also served on many church committees as a lay leader. Carolyn was one of the vital organizers of the successful annual church Thanksgiving Dinner. She had a heart for others and showed it by sending sympathy cards to grieving families while working as a volunteer for Hospice. She enjoyed reading, spending time with her grandchildren and sitting on the front porch and watching deer with her loving husband, Leroy.

     Those left to cherish fond memories are her husband, Leroy Earley; son, Scott Earley (Christie) of Anderson, SC and Anita Earley (Ricky) of Ellenboro and her beloved grandchildren, Britt Earley, Bryce Earley, Jon Hickman and Conner Hickman.

     The funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 pm on Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at Caroleen United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Oak Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the church.
