Edith Ervin Deese, age 93 of Clover, SC, passed away peacefully on May 28, 2020 surrounded by her loving family at her residence.
Born on February 25, 1927 in Rutherford County, Edith was the middle child of 7 born to the late Archie Brady Ervin and Lula Bailey Ervin. She grew up a devoted sister and compassionate friend. Edith was predeceased by her parents and her siblings.
Edith was an avid learner and reader, and played basketball at Cool Springs High School in Forest City. NC. Later, she worked in textiles and manufacturing in the Charlotte garment industry. She retired as a childcare teacher at the former Pine Grove Baptist Church in Clover, SC.
Those left to cherish her memory include her beloved husband of almost 74 years, Paul D. Deese; her two loving daughters and their families: Randee Helms (Mike) of Summerville, SC; and Teresa Deese Fritch of Huntersville, NC. She was a beloved grandmother to two grandchildren: Laura E. Miller of Greenville, NC and Michael E. Miller (Wendy) of Bremen, Georgia; plus three great-grandchildren, Deese Logan Miller of Bremen, Ga, Shaun Elizabeth Rogers of Charlotte, NC and Bailey Anderson Rogers of Fort Mill, SC. Edith was a kind and gentle person, who had many interests. She was an excellent seamstress who enjoyed sewing clothes and taking care of her family. She was devoted to her church Bible studies and ladies’ fellowship. Until recent years, she completed the newspaper’s crossword puzzle every day. She and her husband Paul spent many years camping and vacationing around the country with friends and family members. In 1996, Edith and Paul completed family genealogy data for both families by traveling all around SC and NC doing library and site research.
Above everything, Edith cherished her time spent with family. Through the years, she loved learning about the sports and school activities of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She welcomed the whole family to special and traditional holiday celebrations. She wanted everyone to join her watching the colorful and active wild birds around the yard.
Edith’s family want to thank her compassionate and loving caregivers: Petra Strobelt of Tega Cay, SC and Mary Fabish of Clover, SC.
