Elizabeth "Lib" Wood Turner, age 77, of Caroleen, died Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at White Oak Manor in Rutherfordton.
Born March 16, 1937 in Rutherford County, she was a daughter of the late George Timmons Wood and Gertrude Short Wood. Lib worked for Avondale Mill for many years and was a homemaker. She enjoyed working puzzles and loved taking care of her grandchildren. She was a member of Harriett Memorial Free Will Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of forty-four years, Billy Dee Turner; two brothers, Burrell Wood, Eugene Wood and sister, Dorothy "Dot" Wood.
Survivors include one son, Barry Turner of Caroleen; daughter, Sandy Turner Oliver and husband, Archie of Rutherfordton; step-son, Marshall Turner and wife, Peggy of Forest City; brother, George Timmons Wood, Jr. and sister, Gail Quinn and husband, Buck all of Forest City. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Archie Dean Oliver II, Angelica Laurraine, William Raymond Turner; two step-grandchildren, Rocky Turner and Keisha Duncan; six step-great-grandchildren, Austin Turner, Preston James, Sarah Duncan, Brock Duncan, Grace Turner and Katie Turner.
Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, December 5, 2014 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Ed Ellison officiating. Interment will follow in Providence United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
