Emma Mcginnis

January 24, 1926 — October 4, 2015

Emma "Granny" McGinnis, age 89, of Sandy Mush, passed away on Sunday, October 4, 2015 at her residence.
Born January 24, 1926 in Rutherford County, she was a daughter of the late Jay Bradley and Sarah Jane Frady Dalton. Emma was a homemaker and a member of Sandy Mush Baptist Church. Her life's passion was taking care of her family. She loved cooking for her family and spending time with each of them. She especially treasured her special friendship with her only daughter, Barbara. She was a gentle and kind hearted lady.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of forty-five years, Jesse James McGinnis; five sons, Jimmy Baker McGinnis, Bobby Gene McGinnis, Ronnie "Bean" McGinnis, Leroy McGinnis and Mike McGinnis; two grandsons, Tommy McGinnis and James Snyder.
Survivors include her loving daughter, Barbara Brackett of Sandy Mush; two sons, Ervin McGinnis and wife, Libby of Mooresboro and Steve McGinnis of Sandy Mush; two daughter-in-laws, Pat McGinnis of Forest City and Sheryl McGinnis of Sandy Mush. She is also survived by eighteen grandchildren, thirty-seven great grandchildren, eight great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at three o'clock on Thursday, October 8, 2015 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Rutherfordton City Cemetery.
