Etta Toney

Etta Toney, age 84, of Forest City, passed away Saturday, December 11, 2021 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills in Forest City.

Etta was born Friday, March 26, 1937 in Rutherford County to the late Gleason Toney and Ossie Murray Toney. She was a graduate of Sunshine High School, class of 1955 and worked at Mastercraft for many years before retirement. Etta was a member of Mt. Harmony Baptist Church. She enjoyed solving crossword puzzles, playing card games and especially spending time with her granddaughter, Jessica.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, William Toney, Jr. and Billy Max Toney; four sisters, Louise Smiley, Brenda Toney, Diane Toney and Kathy Perry.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son David Toney (Sheila) of Forest City; granddaughter, Jessica Toney of Forest City; brother, Jerry Toney (Brenda) of Shelby. She is also survived by four nephews, Darrell Toney, Alvin Toney, Brian Toney all of Forest City and Scott Toney (Imara) of California and a niece, Lisa Skipper of Bostic.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at the Mt. Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Scott Butler officiating. No formal visitation will be conducted. The family will be gathered at 368 Holly Hills Drive, Forest City, NC 28043.
