Eugene "Gene" Biggerstaff, age 78, of Spindale, passed away Sunday, August 27, 2017 at the Colonial Manor in Rutherfordton.
Born August 24, 1939 in Rutherford County, he was the son of the late Bill Biggerstaff and Mary Cobb Biggerstaff. He worked as a supervisor for Cone Mills and as a Deputy of the Rutherford County Sheriff's Department. Eugene was a member of Sisk Memorial Missionary Methodist Church and enjoyed fishing and woodworking.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Reba Dills Biggerstaff and one brother, Jerry Biggerstaff.
Those left to cherish his memory include one daughter, Haley Beheler of Spindale; a sister, Carolyn Gordon and husband, Troy of Caroleen; two grandchildren, Emmett Beheler and Anthony Beheler. He is also survived by three sister-in-laws, Joan Dills of Forest City, Marie Biggerstaff of Baltimore, Maryland and Ruby Strader and husband, Wayne of Spindale.
A funeral service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 31, 2017 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Frank Lewis and Reverend Rodger Hall officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
