Eva Cole Horton Humphries, age 95 of Forest City, went home to be the Lord on January 25, 2017 at the White Oak Manor in Rutherfordton.
Born October 13, 1921 in Rutherford County, she was a daughter to the late Ernest and Daisy Cole. She retired from PPG after many years of service and was a long-time member of Holly Springs Baptist Church. Eva enjoyed gardening and had a passion for sacred music. She loved the Lord and her family dearly.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two husbands, Nick Horton and Hugh Humphries. She was the last survivor among thirteen children.
Those left to cherish her memory include a daughter, Brenda Niparts and husband, Herbert of New London, NC; two sons, Leslie Horton and wife, Martha and Ernest Horton all of Forest City; seven grandchildren, Janis Niparts, Emily Niparts Brinskelle (Ed), Briana Horton Reid (Byron), John Horton (Ashley), Nick Horton (Kelly), Joseph Horton (Katherine) and Jake Horton; ten great-grandchildren, Isabel Brinskelle, Cole Brinskelle, Liliana Horton, Sumpter Horton, Gunner Horton, Slade Horton, Bryson Reid, Brock Reid, Braden Reid and Eva Niparts.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at the Holly Springs Baptist Church with Reverend George Whitmire and Pastor Scott Moneyham officiating. Interment will follow in Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery with Reverend Marion Duncan assisting. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service time at the church. The body will lie in state from noon until 5:00 p.m. on Friday, February 3rd at the funeral home.
