Fern W. Vegoren, age 88, of Forest City, passed away Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at Fair Haven of Forest City.
Born October 7, 1928 in Rutherford County, she was the widow of Fred Vegoren and the daughter of the late John Sullivan White and Lora Ann Queen White. She worked for Cone Mills-Cliffside plant for forty-five years before retirement and also worked as a CNA for several years. She attended Isothermal Community College and was a past member of the Village Chapel in Forest City. She was known for her ability to bake and decorate cakes and was a devoted Christian lady with a passion for the church.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Jack and Donald White; two sisters, Dot White and Janice Lowery.
Those left to cherish her memory include one son, Larry Vegoren of Forest City; four daughters, Diane Trantham of Shiloh, Judy Vess and husband, Ardie of Ellenboro, Karen Fain and husband, Keith of Rutherfordton and Claudia Wevers and husband, Bernie of Missoula, Montana; one sister, Sybil Whiteside of Rutherfordton and a brother, Ray White of Forest City. She is also survived by ten grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, June 9, 2017 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Dr. Bobby Gantt and Reverend Scott Moneyham officiating. Interment will follow in Adaville Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
