Florene Matheny

Florene Matheny, age 93, formerly of 1646 Ellenboro-Henrietta Road, died August 6, 2008 at Rutherford Hospital. Born on September 14, 1914 she was a daughter of the late Thomas Alvin Hampton and Lillie Land Hampton. She was a lifelong resident of Rutherford County. She was a homemaker who loved God and her family dearly. She especially loved to cook for her friends and family. She was a life-time member of Race Path Baptist Church. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, A.D. Matheny; one daughter, Joyce M. Hunt and a grandson, Billy Dale Francis.
Survivors include two sons, David Matheny and his wife Thecla of Concord, NC and Dr. Michael Matheny and his wife Margo of Wilkesboro, NC; two daughters, Barbara M. Hendrick and her husband Jack of Shelby, NC and Doris M. Francis and her husband Larry of Newland, NC; 11 grandchildren, Dwayne Hunt and his wife Starlyn Hunt, Teresa H. Granger and her husband Frank, Ricky Francis and his wife Deanna, Tami F. Pesaturo and her husband Raymond, Pam F. McCraw and her husband Jeffery, Chris Francis an his wife Jill, Digit Matheny and his wife Danielle, Matt Matheny and his wife Jennifer, Zack Matheny, Skip Matheny and his wife Timshel, and Logan Matheny; 12 great-grandchildren, Ben Granger, Adam Granger, Aaron Hunt, Ashton Hunt, Elaina Francis, Garrett McCraw, Mackenzie McCraw, Coleman Francis, Caden Francis, Brock Matheny, Jude Matheny and Ambrose Matheny. She also is survived by one son-in-law, Webb Hunt, Jr. and his wife Rebecca of Forest City.
