Floyd O. Buchanan, age 68, of Forest City, NC, died Saturday, February 18, 2012 at Hospice House.
Floyd was born on July 19, 1943 in Mitchell County, NC to the late Floyd Buchanan and Darrell Hughes Buchanan. He was a veteran of the US Army and served in the Vietnam War. He owned and operated Buchanan's Mobile Home Park in Shelby for many years and was a Baptist. He enjoyed fishing and was known as an inventive and humble man.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Becky Buchanan; one sister, Charlotte Lowery and three brothers, Cephas Buchanan, Fate Buchanan and Emory Buchanan.
Survivors include his daughter, Lamonda Henderson and husband, Larry of Forest City; step-daughter, Laura Newton and husband, Eddie of Buffalo, SC; two brothers, Denver Buchanan of Forest City and Terry Byers of Caroleen; two sisters, Nell Toney of Bostic and Shirley Buchanan of Rutherfordton. He is also survived by one granddaughter, Jada Bell of Buffalo, SC and three great grandchildren, Skylar Trout, Scott Trout and Hunter Trout.
