Frances "Tootsie" Rhodes, age 82, of Henrietta, died Saturday, April 14, 2018 at Fair Haven of Forest City.
Born December 11, 1935 in Rutherford County, she was a daughter of the late James Avery Ramsey, Sr. and Nannie Hogan Ramsey. She was a graduate of Tri-High School, class of 1952 and worked as an LPN for the Swannanoa TB Sanitarium and Rutherford Hospital for several years and retired from Burlington Industries after working for many years as a Battery Filler. She was a member of Caroleen Baptist Church and enjoyed crocheting and working on puzzle books. Tootsie loved her family dearly.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-nine years, Charles L. Rhodes; two brothers, James A. Ramsey, Jr. and John K. Ramsey; a sister, Geneva Coffey and three brother-in-laws, Boyd Ramsey, Jr. Coffey and Chris Towery; one grandson, Logan Grant Rhodes.
Those left to cherish her memory include daughter, Annette Hope and husband, Joey of Shelby; three sons, Charlie Rhodes and wife, Gloria of Danville, Virginia, Jimmy Rhodes and wife, Pam of Henrietta and Joe Rhodes also of Henrietta; two sisters, Jean Ramsey of Banner Elk, NC and Kathy Towery of Forest City. She is also survived by six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be conducted at noon on Thursday, April 19, 2018 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Allen Hall and Reverend Lanny J. Funchess officiating. Interment will follow in Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
