Francis Thornton

Francis Pauline Crowder Thornton, age 62, of Mill Springs, NC, died Friday, July 18, 2014 at St. Lukes Medical Center in Columbus.
Born March 23, 1952 in Polk County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Robert "Bob" Crowder and Lanie Lawter Crowder. She worked in textiles for several years, and was a CNA and pulp wood cutter for many years. She was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed Gospel Music.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Junior and Charles Crowder and two infant children, Johnny and Juanita Thornton.
Survivors include her nephew, Ricky Williams and wife, Kim; two nieces, Vickie Williams and Anita Crowder McMillian all of Mill Springs; sister in-law, Sandra Edwards also of Mill Springs. She is also survived by eight great-nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, July 21, 2014 at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Reverend Larry McKee, Reverend Todd Lawter and Reverend Warren Elliott officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the church.
