Francis M. Smith, age 92, of Forest City, formerly of Omaha, Nebraska, passed away Friday, December 24, 2021 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills.
Francis was born Friday, May 24, 1929 in Mondamin, Iowa to the late Carl J. Smith and Alma Bolch Smith. He served in the Post World War II era in Japan and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He worked as a meat cutter and market manager at Safeway for thirty-five years before his retirement. He enjoyed woodworking and was a scout leader for the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Jeff Smith and Kevin Smith; a grandson, Joshua Smith and three brothers and two sisters.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of seventy-one years, Patricia B. Smith; two sons, Steven Smith (Susan) of Vale, Oregon and Todd Patrick Smith (Lynn) of Mooresboro. He is also survived by six grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
No formal services will be conducted at this time.
