Franklin "Curt" Shytles, age 59, of Ellenboro, died Friday, February 26, 2016 at the Rutherford Regional Medical Center.
Born February 19, 1957 in Boone County, NC, he was a son to the late Franklin "Chunk" Shytles and Amelia Putman Shytles. He was a graduate of East Rutherford High School, class of 1975 and was the owner and operator of Shytles Automotive for over twenty years. Curt was a member of Florence Baptist Church and enjoyed riding motorcycles, hunting, fishing and especially spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife of twenty-seven years, Connie Brantley Shytles; son, Charlie Bumgarner and wife, Kyra of Forest City; three grandchildren, Paxton Mogler, Caitlin Fields and Brantley Bumgarner; two brothers, Kent Shytles and Kyle Shytles both of Forest City; father-in-law, Jerry Brantley and wife, Judy of Forest City and mother-in-law, Martha Lancaster; sister-in-law, Amy Doggett and husband, Greg all of Forest City. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews, which includes nieces, Amber Whitaker and husband, Michael and Summer Shytles all of Forest City, Amanda Tesseneer and husband, Chad of Rutherfordton; nephew, Adam Doggett also of Forest City; two grandnieces, Blakeley Whitaker and Brenlie Whitaker.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, February 29, 2016 at the First Wesleyan Church of Forest City with Reverend Eric Yelton and Reverend Dr. Bobby Gantt officiating. Interment will follow in Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
