Fred Hudgins, Jr., age 83, of Kings Drive, Forest City, NC, died Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at Rutherford Regional Medical Center.
Fred was born October 9, 1928 in Rutherford County, NC to the late Fred Hudgins, Sr. and Fannie Slusser Hudgins. He served in the US Army for 33 years and was a veteran of World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He was a recipient of two purple hearts. After his military retirement, he worked for Lawton Public Schools as a mechanic for 15 years. He was a member of Corinth Baptist Church and loved spending time with friends and family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Sarah Grace Lowery Hudgins; one son, F. Dean Hudgins; two brothers, Kenneth Hudgins, James Hudgins and two sisters, Estelle Batdorf and Jackie Marshall.
Survivors include two granddaughters, Deana Hudgins of Wooster, Ohio, Jamie Jarvis and husband, Tyler of Ashland, Ohio; one brother, Leroy Hudgins of North Carolina and daughter in-law, Judy Hudgins. He is also survived by two great grandsons, Dylan Jarvis and Walker Jarvis.
