Fred Mccurry, Jr.

Fred B. McCurry, Jr., age 68, of Mooresboro, NC, died Monday, June 30, 2014 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
Born April 23, 1946 in Rutherford County, he was a son of the late Fred B. McCurry, Sr. and Myrtise Guffey McCurry. He was a graduate of Chase High School, class of 1964. Fred served in the US Navy and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He worked as a production manager for Nestlé's Frozen Food Division in Gaffney for many years and was a member of Temple Baptist Church. He was also a member of the VFW Post #423. Fred enjoyed coaching little baseball, auto racing and fishing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of forty years, Connie Hovey McCurry.
Survivors include three sons, Freddie B. McCurry III and wife, Susan of Rutherford County, James Chad McCurry and wife, Jill of Waxhaw, NC and William "Billy" McCurry and wife, Brandie of Mooresboro; sister, Bette Jo Lowery and husband, Bo of Forest City. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 3, 2014 at Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Ernie Cole officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the Rutherford County Honor Guard. There will be no formal visitation. The body will lie in state on Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
