Freddie H. Clay, age 84, of Mooresboro, NC, died Tuesday, November, 2012 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
Freddie was born February 9, 1928 in Cleveland County, NC to the late John Wesley Clay and Martha Angle Clay. He worked in textiles most of his life and was a Baptist. He enjoyed tinkering with small engines and other kinds of mechanical devices. He was known as a people person who enjoyed country music and dancing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Elizabeth Lail Clay; one daughter, Rebecca Jane Wall; three brothers, Earl Clay, John Clay, Jim Clay; five sisters, Jean Clay Botts, Lois Oakley, Chanie Thiesen, Georgie Lloyd and Eva Clay and one grandson, David Hartman.
Survivors include two daughters, Vickie Rayfield of Cliffside and Jeannie Lovelace of Henrietta; one son, Mike Clay and wife, Kay of Pelzer, SC; eight grandchildren, Tonya Rayfield, Curtis Rayfield, Glenda Ogren, Steven Clay, Tameka Clay, Amber Owens, Dewayne Rayfield, Cassandra Vaughn; eighteen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 Friday, November 9, 2012 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Tony Rayfield officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery of Shelby, NC. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
