Garland Bailey

Garland Ray Bailey, age 81, of Southers Road, Rutherfordton, NC, died Saturday, March 2, 2013 at the Charles George VA Medical Center.
Garland was born July 4, 1931 in Rutherford County, NC to the late R.O. Bailey and Elsie Moore Bailey. He was a graduate of Harris High School and a veteran of the Korean War having served in the US Army. He worked for Stonecutter Mill for many years and was an avid racing fan. He was a member of Adaville Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Grady Bailey and an infant sister, Christina Bailey.
Survivors include his daughter, Stephany Silver of Spindale; two grandsons, Christopher Scott Silver and Jason Lewis Silver also of Spindale; one brother, Clyde Romeo Bailey and wife, Gail of Forest City. He is also survived by four great grandchildren, Breanna Nicole Silver, Savannah Grace Silver, Isabella Jude Silver Aubree Jay Silver, and his best friend, James "Cowboy" Killian.
A memorial service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 7, 2013 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Cal Sayles officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
