Gary Newton

Gary L. Newton, age 57, of Forest City, passed away Thursday, September 24, 2020 at Mission Hospital in Asheville.

Gary was born June 8, 1963 in Rutherford County to the late Charles Edward Newton and Billie Waters Newton. He was a graduate of East Rutherford High School, class of 1981 and worked for the Forest City Water Treatment Plant for almost thirty years before his retirement. Gary was a member of the First Baptist Church of Forest City and enjoyed reading the Bible. He was an avid NC Tarheel, Washington Redskin and Atlanta Braves fan.

He is survived by his cousins, Phil Newton, Arnold Waters, Charlotte Street, Larry Pope, Shelba Sinclair, Roger Waters, Myra Bridges and Caroline Pope.

A memorial service will be conducted. The location, time and date will be announced by Harrelson Funeral Home.
