George W. Black

George W. Black, age 69, of Mooresboro, passed away Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at Willow Ridge Rehab and Living Center.

George was born Sunday, September 20, 1953 in Gaston County. He worked as a cook for various local restaurants which included Applebee’s and the Carolina Café in Spindale.  George enjoyed chopping and moving wood and was an avid fisherman. He was a member of High Shoal Baptist Church.

     He was preceded in death by a brother, Lloyd Black.

     Left to cherish fond memories are his wife of twenty-eight years, Frances Watson; sons, Michael Black and Bryson Watson; sisters, Darlene Clemmer of Dallas, NC, Susan Hamm of Kings Mountain; brother, Jacky Moore of Gastonia and life-long friends, Renee and Randy Bryson of Hendersonville.

     A celebration of life will be conducted at 6:00 pm on Friday, April 21^st at High Shoal Baptist Church with Reverend Shane Adkins officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the church.
