George Parker

George "Reid" Parker, age 75, of Mooresboro, NC died Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills.
Reid was born April 20, 1944 in Rutherford County to the late George W. Parker and Edna Crawford Parker. He worked at Cone Mills for thirteen years and as a truck mechanic for seventeen years. He enjoyed fixing and restoring old cars, but his life's passion was preaching God's Word and spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Lucille Bradley, Birdie Mae Rhodes, Viola Sisk and two brothers, Roy Parker and Spencer Parker.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of fifty-six years, Barbara Tesenair Parker; two daughters, Susie Parker of Ellenboro and Angel Parker Long (Jackie) of Bostic; son, Bucky Parker (Michelle) of Mooresboro; two sisters, Madge Jones of Green Hill and Louise McIntyre of Spindale. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Taylor Hardin (Andy), Caleb Matthew Long, Gabriel Reese Parker, Kaydrien Lamica, Lindsey Brewer (Andrew), Shellie Avant and four great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Rick Cockerham, Reverend Hubert Street and Reverend Marshall Dill officiating. Interment will follow in Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
