Gerald C. "Gomer" Huber, age 69, of Ellenboro, died Monday, April 11, 2016 at the Carolina Continued Care of Kings Mountain.
Born September 30, 1946 in Rutherford County, he was a son to the late Carl Huber and Delores Smalley Huber. He was a graduate of East Rutherford High School, class of 1965 and a past member of Race Path Baptist Church. Gerald worked for PPG Industries for forty-three years before retirement. He was an avid fisherman, shagger, coon hunter and enjoyed getting good deals at the flea market.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Joyce Myrtle Carter Huber; second wife, Joyce Bridges Huber and step-daughter, Denise Moss Mull.
Survivors include three sons, Chuck McSwain of Mooresboro, Jeff Huber and wife, Miranda Gregory and Danny Huber all of Ellenboro; one sister, Geraldine Hodge and husband, Hoyt of Ellenboro and brother, Robert Huber and wife, Lynne of Hendersonville. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren, Cassie Young, Hunter Huber, Lauren McSwain, Leslie McSwain, Brandon McSwain, Brittani Huber, Darian Huber, Daniel Blessel, Brandon Moss, Cameron Norvelle and Ryan Mull; two great-grandchildren, Braden Moss and Camden Moss.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 15, 2016 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Phillip Park and Reverend Albert Hillman officiating. Interment will follow in Race Path Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
