Geraldine Nix

Geraldine Nix, age 86, of Forest City, passed away Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at the Fair Haven Home in Bostic. Geraldine was born Friday, August 16, 1935 in Rutherford County to the late Walter James Bailey and Altha Cooper Bailey. She worked in the supply room at the J.C. Cowan Plant for twenty-five years before retirement. Geraldine was a member of Gray’s Creek Baptist Church. She enjoyed playing cards, especially Rook and Skip-Bo, but her favorite pastime was cooking for her family and friends. Geraldine loved her family dearly.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Audrey Philbeck and Faye Earley and a brother, Royce Bailey.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Tammy Morrow (Eddie) of Rutherfordton, Tonda Pye (Wayne Smith) of Casar, NC; son, Terry Davis (Lynn) of Dallas, NC; her loving sister, Pat Bedford of Forest City; two brothers, Bobby Bailey (Linda) of Forest City and Walter Bailey (Ann) of Shelby. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Amanda Morrow (Megan), Alicia Leverette (Joey), Brad Pye (Harley), Heather Davis, Tracy Goodson (Bobby), Leslie Buchanan (John) and nine great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 pm on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at the Gray’s Creek Baptist Church with Reverend Bryan Ezell officiating. The family will receive friends in the Family Life Center one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
