Gwendolyn Ledford

Gwendolyn Ballard Ledford, age 87, of Forest City, NC, died Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at the Oak Grove Healthcare Center.

Gwendolyn was born October 25, 1931 in Rutherford County, to the late Henry Ballard and Nettie Martin Ballard. She worked for Burlington Industries for over thirty years before retirement and was a past member of Haynes Memorial Baptist Church. She loved her family dearly.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Glenn, Earl, Eugene and David Ballard and a sister, Louise Burleson.

Those left to cherish her memory include her loving daughter, Rhonda Gibson and husband, Dwayne of Henrietta; sister, Frances Scarlata of Louisiana; three grandchildren, Dustin Williams of Asheville, Joshua Williams of Florida and Alex Williams of Spindale; two great-grandchildren, Kayden and Kolton Williams; her pet cat, “Blackie” and a number of nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 16, 2019 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Jessica Godfrey officiating. Interment will follow in Caroleen-Avondale-Henrietta Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
