Harriette Ruppe Cook, age 84, of Ellenboro, passed away Thursday, September 17, 2020 at the Oaks Nursing Home in Huntersville, NC.
Harriette was born January 25, 1936 in Cleveland County to the late Edley “O.B.” Ruppe and Irene Fowler Ruppe. She worked for Dover Mill in Shelby for many years and as a cooking supervisor for Fuddruckers for twenty years. Harriette was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed playing bingo at the Moose Lodge.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of thirty-three years, W.R. Cook; brother, Henry Ruppe; three sisters, Dorothy Cash, Faye Willis, Juanita Hawkins and granddaughter, Amita Burgess Dobbins.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Donna Burgess (Larry) of Ellenboro; son, Allen Peskopos of Kennesaw, Georgia; brothers, Jerry Ruppe of Boiling Springs, NC and Johnny Ruppe (Blanche) of Polkville and a sister, Mamie Lackey (Bill) of Polkville. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Necia Scruggs, Kasi Wardlaw, Jeremy Gipson, Jeff Burgess, Charles Burgess and five great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Sunday, September 20, 2020 at Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Bruce Duncan officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm on Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Polkville Baptist Church Cemetery.
