Hazel Ayers, age 88, of Forest City, passed away Friday, August 11, 2023 at her residence.
Hazel was born Saturday, September 1, 1934 in Cleveland County to the late Hoyt Mode and Grace Sailors Mode. She worked for Stonecutter Mill for many years and most recently for Watts Regulator before retirement. Hazel was a member of Campfield Memorial Baptist Church. She was known for her excellent baking skills. Her life’s passion was her grandchildren, whom she loved dearly. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Doug Evans; grandchildren, Abbie Toney and Matthew Suttle and three brothers, Boyce, Jack and Bobby Mode.
Those left to cherish fond memories include her husband, Bobby Ayers; sons, Dean Blanton (Sharon) of Forest City, Dennis Thurman Evans (Sharon Bright) of Bostic, Christopher Ayers (Christy) of Mooresboro; daughters, Cathy Bennett (Jack) of Bostic, Brenda Ramsey (Greg) of Ellenboro, Tammy Melton of Forest City; sister, Donnis White of Shelby; sixteen grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 19th at Campfield Memorial Baptist Church with Reverend Nick King officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will follow in the church cemetery.
