Herman Henson, age 84, of 155 Crawley Drive, Forest City, NC died Friday, October 3, 2008 at the Hospice House of Rutherford County.
A native of Rutherford County he was a son of the late Oscar and Dera Butler Henson. He was a retired US Army Veteran who served his country as a Nuclear Weapons Specialist. He was a Bronze Medal Recipient and served during World War II, the Korean War and Vietnam War. He was a faithful and long-time member of Caroleen Baptist Church. He was a gentle and kind man who loved his family dearly.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Clarence Henson, Ralph Henson, Collis Henson, Gene Henson and Grady Henson; one sister, Edna Grant; one granddaughter, Valerie Lynn Epps.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Libby Luckadoo Henson; three sons, Stephen Henson and his wife Eydie of Dixon, OK, Kenneth Henson of Caddo, TX and Timothy Henson of Wisconsin; one daughter, Gloria Henson of Spindale; two step-daughters, Connie Padgett and her husband John and Tammy Hodge all of Spartanburg, SC; one brother, Morris Henson and his wife Betty of Rutherfordton. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
