Howard Conner

June 20, 1916 — April 11, 2009

On April 11, 2009 the best father two daughters could have ever had, passed away at Cleveland Regional Hospital.
Howard Harrill Conner, 92, was born June 20, 1916 in Rutherford County to the late Reverend Perry Conner and Lucinda Connor Conner.
He retired from Burlington Industries in Caroleen after 44 years of service. He also worked at Harriett Memorial Free Will Baptist Church and Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery in lawn maintenance before his health declined.
He lived in Caroleen for 88 years and had recently lived with his daughter, Patricia Ann Clark in Shelby. He was under the care of Hospice and Palliative Care of Cleveland County.
He was a faithful member of Harriett Memorial Free Will Baptist Church where he loved his church family and especially Coye and Cathy Walker who were like his children.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his precious wife of 68 years, Bertha Morris Conner; two loving sons, Bobby Dean Conner and William 'Stub' Conner; four brothers Walter, Jake, Pink, and Tom Conner; one sister, Fannie Sisk; one son-in-law, Bobby Wray Clark.
Survivors include his two loving daughters, Mary Ruth Conner Henderson and her husband, Heyward Lee Henderson of Chesnee, SC and Patricia Conner Clark of Shelby. He is also survived by his four grandchildren, whom he loved dearly, Randy Lee Henderson, and his wife, Deana of Boiling Springs, SC, Todd Harrill Henderson of Chesnee, SC, Missy Henderson Fowler and her husband Michael also of Chesnee and Harrill Dean Conner and his wife Sonya of Gastonia; his six adorable great grandchildren, Ashley Henderson, Brett Henderson, Miranda Henderson, Chance Henderson, Levi Fowler and Austin Conner; many nephews, nieces and cousins; a special nephew Fletcher Conner and his wife Hazel and two special cousins, Barbara Conner Upton and Paulette Conner Greene.
The family would like to thank Dr. Todd Abala of RIMA for his professional care, kindness and compassion, Cynthia Gould, the Hospice Nurse, for treating Howard like a member of her own family, Dr. James Potts for his care, Pricilla Brooks and Reverend Terry Floyd for their faithful visits. In saving the best for last, the family wishes to thank Reverend Robert Harris for his goodness toward Howard which includes his prayers, visits, calls and for being like a son to Howard. Reverend Harris' love will never be forgotten.
