Howard Guffey

November 7, 1940 — February 6, 2017

Howard Ray Guffey, age 76, of Forest City, NC, passed away on Monday, February 6, 2017 at the Hospice House of Rutherford County.
Born November 7, 1940 in Rutherford County, he was a son to the late Mack Guffey and Annie Crisson Guffey. Howard worked for A & E Plastics and Atchley Construction for many years and also worked at the Avondale Facility Convenience Center for several years. He enjoyed sports, going to Owls baseball games, his Beagles and his 1956 Oldsmobile. Howard loved his family dearly and was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Christopher Guffey;
three brothers, Fred, Bill and Lloyd Guffey and a sister, Pauline Tucker.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of over forty-two years, Gail Emory Guffey; two daughters, Jeanine Nofi of Flushing, New York and Crystal Guffey Turtle and husband, Josh of Cherokee, NC; two brothers, Homer Guffey and Sam Guffey and wife, Elaine all of Forest City; sister, Joan Bostic also of Forest City. He is also survived by his best friends Pat and Patricia Smith of Forest City and five grandchildren; Stephen Cooke, Hunter Robbins,
Christopher Guffey, Lily Peterson and Grayson Guffey.
The memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Wayne Toney officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
