Howard Padgett

Howard Y. Padgett, age 85, of Caroleen, died Thursday, May 19, 2016 at his residence.
Born July 28, 1930 in Rutherford County, he was a son to the late John C. Padgett and Mary Willie Putman Padgett. Howard served his country in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. He worked many years for Daniels Construction as a commercial painter. He was of the Baptist faith. Howard enjoyed playing the fiddle and guitar and was a bluegrass music enthusiast. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded by an infant daughter; one son, Howard Wayne Padgett; two grandchildren, Lisa Grayson and Patrick Padgett; two brothers, Clark Padgett and Ralph Padgett; two sister-in-laws, Juanita Padgett and Ruth Padgett and brother-in-law, Fred Kimbrell.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Joyce Wilkie Padgett; two daughters, Sherry P. Ramsey and husband, Samuel and Deborah P. Murray and husband, John B. all of Caroleen; four grandchildren, Shelley R. Hutchins and husband, Jimmy and Robert Ramsey all of Forest City, Christopher Grayson and wife, Nicole and Amy Murray and husband, Chris Brown all of Charlotte; one sister, Frances P. Kimbrell of Spartanburg. He is also survived by nine great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and a host niece, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Rev. Sam Henderson officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
