Inez Allred Ramsey, age 91, of Forest City, passed away on Thursday, January 5, 2017 at the Hospice House of Rutherford County.
Born April 21, 1925 in Rutherford County, she was a daughter to the late John Oliver Allred and Martha Rumfelt Allred. Inez worked for Burlington Industries for many years and was an active member of Alexander Missionary Methodist Church. She was a pianist for several area churches and taught Sunday School for many years. Besides her passion to serve the Lord, she also enjoyed embroidery and watching birds.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by and infant son, Freddie Gene Ramsey and a great-grandson, Cody Rice.
Survivors include her three sons, Clyde Preston Ramsey, Sr. and wife, Diane of Mt. Dana, Florida, Sam L. Ramsey and wife, Sherry of Caroleen and Carl M. Ramsey, Jr. of Forest City; one daughter, Elizabeth Higgins and husband, Roy of Green Hill; her "self-adopted" son, Rick Strickland; her caregiver, Trisha Gilbert of Ellenboro. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 9, 2017 at the Alexander Missionary Methodist Church with Reverend Carl Ramsey, Jr. and Reverend Michael Ruff officiating. Interment will follow in the Hopewell Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
