J. Toms

J O Toms, 93, of Forest City died Friday, Oct. 5, 2007, at Rutherford Hospital.

A native of Rutherford County, he was son of the late William Taylor Toms and Nancy Smith Toms. He retired from Fieldcrest Mills and was a lifelong farmer. He was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church where he had served as deacon, treasurer, Sunday School teacher, and building committeeman and participant in all church activities.

Mr. Toms was predeceased by his wife of 67 years, Eunice Henson Toms. He is survived by three sons, Don Toms, Fred Toms, and Randy Toms; six grandchildren, Scott Toms, Lisa Toms, Merritt Tracy, Cindy Lickert, Daniel Toms, and Sarah Toms; and three great-grandchildren, Delaney Toms, Jake Tracy, and Cameron Tracy. Also surviving are brother Paul Toms and sisters Ruby Livingstone and Willie Sue Hudgins.
