Jack Hudgins, age 65, of Rutherfordton, died Sunday, September 22, 2019 at his residence.
Jack was born May 11, 1954 in Rutherford County to the late Hubert Hudgins and Ruby Flynn Hudgins. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of Spindale Fellowship Holiness Church. He worked many years as a saw operator for Laughter’s Sawmill. Jack enjoyed going to Turkey Shoots, woodworking and fishing. He was an avid Elvis fan. Jack loved his family dearly and will be missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Ray and Calvin Hudgins and a grandchild, Jordan Lee Cox.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Deborah Hudgins; two sons, Melvin Cox (Dreama) of Rutherfordton and Jimmy Cox (Nellie) of Ellenboro; daughter, Jennifer Lyda of Spindale; fifteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by six sisters, Pam Cogdell of Ellenboro, Susie Craig of Rutherfordton, Polly Edwards (Brian) of Rutherfordton, Connie Harris (John) of Ellenboro, Bonnie Ledford (Rodney) of Ellenboro and Patty Kelly (Glenn) of Union Mills.
The funeral service will be conducted at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 26, 2019 at the Spindale Fellowship Holiness Church with Reverend Leon Brown and Reverend Paul Flynn officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the church. Military Honors will be accorded by the Rutherford County Honor Guard.
Memorial donations are requested to Harrelson Funeral Home, 1251 US Highway 221A, Forest City, NC 28043 to help defray funeral costs.
