James Carver

James William 'Bill' Carver, age 72, of Butler Street, Rutherfordton, NC passed away Wednesday, August 6, 2008 at Rutherford Hospital. He was born July 29, 1936 in Rutherford County. He was preceded in death by his father, James Gold Carver. James worked for Stonecutter Mill for many years. He also worked for WAGY Radio Station as a disc jockey, as a shipping clerk for Highlander Limited, and at the Rutherford Coin and Pawn Shop. He loved to sing and was a member of the Southern Gospel Quartet. He collected walking canes and smoking pipes and was a photographer. He was a longtime member of the Second Baptist Church of Rutherfordton. James was a loving father, brother, son, father-in-law and uncle.

He is survived by his mother, Mary Hamrick Carver of Caroleen, NC; one son, Michael James Carver and wife Babe of Forest City, NC; two sisters, Margaret Carver Locke of Marion, and Hannah Carver Earls of Caroleen, NC; four brothers, Robert Carver and wife June of Forest City, NC, Max Carver and wife April of Norfolk, VA, Joseph Floyd Carver of Caroleen, NC, and Charles Carver and wife Barbara of Caroleen, NC and several nieces and nephews.
