James Carl Elliott, age 67, of Caroleen, died Sunday, October 26, 2014 at Rutherford Regional Medical Center.
Born November 10, 1946 in Rutherford County, he was a son of the late William Columbus Elliott and Verda Wood Elliott. He attended Chase High School and worked in textiles most of his life. He was a faithful and long time member of Harriett Memorial Free Will Baptist Church where he served as an usher, on the grounds committee as well as helping out with church fundraisers. He was a loving, caring man of God who loved his family and desired to experience every milestone in each of his children's and granddaughter's lives. James often would cut grass for people and never expected anything in return. He had a true servant's heart.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Robin P. Dawson.
Survivors include his wife of twenty-two years, Peggie Atkinson Elliott; son, James William Elliott and wife, Kendra of Mayo, SC; one son-in-law, Donald Dawson of Shelby; two daughters, Cindy Elliott and fiancé, Eric Waters of Forest City and Kimberly Wood and husband, Bobby of Ellenboro; two sisters, Mildred Wallace and husband, Chuck and Edith Grant and husband Mike all of Caroleen; two brothers, Paul Elliott and wife, Sandra of Forest City and Clyde Elliott of Caroleen. He is also survived by six granddaughters, Jennifer Wood, Taylor Dawson, Jordan Dawson, Morgan Dawson, Colbi Lynn Elliott, Carli Elliott and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at Harriett Memorial Free Will Baptist Church with Reverend Billy Poe Jones and Reverend Ricky Poteat officiating. Committal services will follow at Goodes Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Robert Harris officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
