James L. Silver, age 79, of Rutherfordton, died Friday, January 13, 2017 at the Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
Born October 18, 1937 in Rutherford County, he was a son to the late Lloyd Vance Silver, Sr. and Anace Calhoun Silver. James was a veteran of the Vietnam War and served in the U.S. Coast Guard for twenty years before retirement. He owned and operated Silvers Construction Company and worked as a rigger and carpenter. James was of the Baptist Faith and an avid fisherman.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one grandson, Jeffrey Silver.
Those left to cherish his memory is his wife of fifty-eight years, Audrey Hannon Silver; daughter, Buffie Chubbuck of Rutherfordton; four sons, Scott Silver and wife, Sherri of Rutherfordton, Danny Silver of Austin, Texas, Mark Silver and Vance Silver both of Rutherfordton; sister, Joanna McCurry of Sunshine; brother, Vance Silver, Jr. and wife, Cathy of Ellenboro. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
The memorial service will be conducted at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Ernie Cole officiating. Military honors will be rendered by the Rutherford County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service time at the funeral home.
