James Toney

James Toney, age 89, of Forest City, passed away Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at his residence.

James was born Tuesday, February 13, 1934 in Rutherford County to the late Charlie Jackson Toney and Naomi Hudson Toney. He was the owner and operator of Toney’s Manufacturing for thirty-five years. James was a dedicated and avid quail hunter and a member of Sulphur Springs Baptist Church. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-one years, Edith Jane and siblings, Ruby Roach and Paul Toney.

Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Sandra Robinette (Michael) of Sandy Mush; sons, Ricky Toney (Deborah) of Shiloh, David Toney of Sandy Mush, Alan Toney (Kaye) of Shiloh and Steven Toney (Jennifer) of Sandy Mush; sister, Betty Lue Brooks (Andrew) of Chase Community; grandchildren, Phillip Toney (Candace), Joseph Toney (Katie), Kevin Toney (Amber), Riley Robinette, Caroline Buckner (Chris), Mark Robinette; great-grandchildren, Madison, Logan, Ava, Sawyer, Rosalie and a great-great-grandchild, Lincoln.

The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Monday, November 27^th at Sulphur Springs Baptist Church with Reverend Ethan Gardner and Reverend Chad Sisk officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the church.
