Jane Bridges Powell

Jane Bridges Powell, age 64, of Bostic, surrounded by her family and friends, peacefully went home to be with the Lord. She was a graduate of East Rutherford High School, class of 1977 and earned an Associate’s degree from Isothermal Community College. Jane was a member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church. She worked for the Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce for many years and for the Rutherford County Department of Social Services. Jane loved fishing, camping, gardening, growing plants, canning, making jellies and all kinds of flowers. She was active with her granddaughter, Emma, whom she adored. Jane cared deeply for all her family.

She was preceded in death by her biological father, Ronald Bridges and her mother, Margaret “Edna” Alice Propes; brothers, James Beheler, Ronnie Beheler; her sister, Marie Quinn; her foster and adoptive parents, Cleatus and Mattie Randall.

     She is survived by her husband of over thirty years, David Wayne Powell; brothers, Johnny Propes, Kenneth Bridges (Monica); sisters, Tilly Foster, Ann Craven (John), Cindy McGinnis (Doug); stepson, Nathan Powell; granddaughters, Emma Powell, Brianna Kincaid and many nieces and nephews.

     A memorial service to honor Jane’s life will be conducted at Oak Grove United Methodist Church at 3:00 pm on Thursday, January 11^th with Reverend Chris Glawson officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
