Jane Hall Mauney, age 69, of Forest City, passed away on Monday, September 28, 2015 at her residence.
Born March 2, 1946 in Catawba County, NC, she was a daughter of the late George Whiting Hall and Laura Cartner Hall Lutz. She was a graduate of Hickory High School, class of 1964 and Appalachian State University, class of 1969. Jane was an elementary teacher for the Rutherford County Public Schools which included Forest City, Bostic and Alexander Mills. She taught for twenty-eight years until her retirement. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Forest City and enjoyed reading, crocheting and working on the computer. Jane was a loving and caring person.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Joseph Hall Mauney.
Survivors include her loving husband of forty-five years, Ron Mauney; two daughters, Elizabeth Mauney Rice and husband, Billy of Lancing, TN and Catherine Mauney Powell and husband, Tony of Ellenboro; three grandchildren, Zachery Parton, Camryn Powell and Chase Powell; four step-grandchildren, Tabitha Rice, Justin Rice, Samantha Rice and Brandon Rice.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 o'clock on Friday, October 2, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church of Forest City with Rev. Dr. Neil Haynes officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church parlor. Interment will follow in High Shoals Baptist Church Cemetery.
