Janet Hodge, age 53, of Forest City, died Wednesday, February 5, 2020.

Janet was born November 30, 1966 in Rutherford County to Brenda Weatherman who resides in Forest City and the late Frank Hicks Hodge. She was a truck driver most of her life. She worked for the NCDOT and for various paving companies. Janet had the distinction of being the first woman volunteer fire fighter for the Hudlow Fire Department. She loved children and her pet cat, “Mr. Kitty.” Janet was a past member of Mt. Hebron Church.

In addition to her mother, those left to cherish her memory include a son, Joseph Earley (Amanda) of Spindale; daughter, Julie Earley of Forest City; a special friend, Jerry Logan of Forest City; step-father, Bill Weatherman of Forest City; two brothers, Curtis Hodge (Jennifer) and Chris Hodge (Stephanie) all of Forest City; two step-brothers, Thomas Weatherman (Christy) of Lyman, SC and Paul Weatherman (Jennifer) all of Lyman; three step-sisters, Tammy Giles (Bruce) of Boiling Springs, SC, Michelle Warren (Ron) of Lyman and Dawn Cox (Shawn) of Blue Ridge, SC. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Justin, Gracie, Benjamin, Abigail, Jeremiah, Stephen, Katie, Adam and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be conducted at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, February 10, 2020 at Mt. Hebron Church (2869 Hudlow Road) with Pastor Doug Pryor officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the church.

Memorial donations are requested to the charity of choice.
