Jean Godfrey, age 81, of Conover, NC formerly of Bostic NC, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 1, 2016 at her residence.
Born August 3, 1934 in Greenwood County, SC, she was a daughter of the late Ray Fulmer and Maggie Still Fulmer. Jean was a pastor's wife for forty-nine years, faithfully supporting her husband, Rev. Earl Godfrey, in his ministry. She was a homemaker and had worked for Clinton Mills for seventeen years. Jean enjoyed needle work, playing the guitar and writing. She was a true servant of the Lord and currently a member of Joy Baptist Church in Conover NC.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Bobby Godfrey; sister, Beatrice Fulmer and brother, Raymond Fulmer.
Besides her husband, she was survived by four daughters, Kay Godfrey of Conover NC; Brenda Hefner and husband, Oz also of Conover NC, Rhonda Allen and husband, David and Tammy Robbins and husband, Rodney all of Bostic NC; two sons, Dale Godfrey and wife, Lisa of Canton, NC and Matthew Godfrey and wife, Sharika of Conover, NC; two brothers, Ray Fulmer and Don Fulmer both of Clinton, SC and sister, Clara Moore of Greenville, SC and a daughter in-law, Jeannie Godfrey of Taylorsville, NC. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at the Joy Baptist Church of Conover with Reverend John Parker, Reverend Tim Shook and Reverend Nathan Robbins officiating. Interment will follow in the Victory Independent Baptist Church Cemetery in Taylorsville. The family will receive friends from noon until service time at the church.
