Jean S. Hardin

Jean S. Hardin, age 76, of Rutherfordton, passed away Monday, December 6, 2021 at Rutherford Regional Medical Center.

Jean was born Thursday, August 2, 1945 in Woodruff, SC to the late George P. Simmons and Edna Mae Skinner Simmons. She was a graduate of Woodruff High School, class of 1963 and a graduate of Cecil’s Business College in Spartanburg. Jean was the co-owner and operator of Harco Incorporated in Forest City and a longtime member of Sandy Mush Baptist Church. She loved the outdoors, especially flower gardening. Jean was an avid sports fan and was an animal lover. She was dedicated to her family and was known by the community as, “The Flower Lady.” She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of twenty-four years, Jerry Glenn Hardin and three brothers, William, Thomas, and Marshall Simmons.

Those left to cherish her memory include her life companion of thirty years, David Harmon; daughter, Amy Hardin of Rutherfordton; son, Jeff Hardin (Vanghi) of Monroe, NC; brothers, Jerry Simmons (Ann) of Iron Station, NC and Bobby Simmons (Martha) of Clover, SC; sister, Marie Adams (Bob) of Morehead, Kentucky. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Haley Hardin, Colton Hardin and her fur babies, Charlie, Sammy and Kelsey.

The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Thursday, December 9, 2021 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Stephen Matheny officiating. Interment will follow at Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
