On July 23rd, a kind, gentle and loving man, Robert Jeffrey (Jeff) Sweatt, a native and resident of San Mateo, CA, died after a courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Wanda, and cherished daughter, Jensi. He is the son of Gloria Sweatt and the late Captain Robert Sweatt; brother of Virginia Franzi and Gregory Sweatt; and uncle to ten much loved nieces and nephews and their children. Jeff is also survived by Valoree Harrill (mother-in-law) and Janet Harrill (sister-in-law) of Forest City, NC, Joan Singleton (sister-in-law) and her family of Mills River, NC, and John Harrill (brother-in-law) and his family of Roswell, GA. Jeff was 60 years old. He was a learned man who loved music and literature, and who inherited his love for sailing and woodworking from his father.
He attended the College of San Mateo and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for an undergraduate degree in English Literature and continued his graduate studies at Virginia Polytechnic Institute for a Masters in American Literature. After working for the family business and then for Chevron, Jeff continued his education to become a teacher, which was a job that he really loved. He taught at Selby Lane and then finished his career at Westmoor High School, Daly City, CA, where he taught English Language Development and English Literature until May 27, 2009.
