Jerry Dobbins

Jerry Dobbins, age 59, of Forest City, NC, died Sunday, March 10, 2013 at the Charles George VA Medical Center in Asheville.
Jerry was born December 5, 1953 in Rutherford County, NC to the late John Baxter Dobbins and Merle Silvers Dobbins. He was a US Army veteran and served during the Vietnam War. He was a past member of the VFW Post 4066 in Shelby, NC. He worked in textiles for over 20 years and was of the Baptist faith. Jerry enjoyed playing the guitar, riding motorcycles and as an avid reader.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Jimmy Ray Dobbins.
Survivors include two sons, Eric Dobbins and Eddie Castle and wife, Rebecca all of Forest City; one sister, Sandra Byrd and husband, Kenneth of Rutherfordton; two brothers, Robert Dobbins and wife, Joyce of Ellenboro and Boyd Dobbins of Forest City; two half-sisters, Vicky Bates and husband, Charles of Forest City and Louann Greene and husband, Don of Union Mills. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Cody Dobbins, Faith Dobbins, Jadah Dobbins, Celeste Castle, Stephen Williams; one great grandchild, Danica Williams; six nieces and two nephews.
Graveside services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at High Shoal Baptist Cemetery with Reverend John Godfrey officiating with military honors being accorded by the Rutherford County Honor Guard. There will be no formal visitation.
